A dancer rests during a rehearsal..half awake and half asleep. Dancers have a very punishing schedule when they are on tour. They exercise in the morning, rehearse in the afternoon and perform in the evening. They need to have considerable stamina to be able to maintain the very high standards set by the ballet production. The blues of the painting reflect the subdued tone that I am trying to suggest and the sky background is meant to suggest the calming effect of a sunset
